Twitter Spaces Vs. Clubhouse – The Community Weighs It In

Table of Contents

Twitter Spaces VS Clubhouse debate has been raging on ever since the later app was launched. However, pretty much like the Apple vs Android debate, this one also seems to have no specific outcome. Both sides are pretty much set on what they like to use and are not ready to bulge from their spots.

Is one of these apps better than the other?

If you, too, are on the fence and find yourself stuck in the debate, here is what the community has to say about it. We decided to end this debate once and for all by asking our fellow community members on HARO the following question:

Do you think Twitter spaces have an upper edge over other competitors, such as Clubhouse? What do you think differentiates them from the rest?

“I once heard Clubhouse as being the worst of LinkedIn but vocalized. That’s a harsh assessment, but I do see where it’s coming from.

There’s a lot of hustle-merchants on Clubhouse while Spaces is much more general public. For the same reason, people have been slower to jump on the voice-only media bandwagon. At the same time, remember, many are experimenting with the polar opposite in TikTok.

However, Space’s most significant power is the fact it has a Twitter user base. While my personal experience to date has been that of the platform being a bit slow to get going, we must remember its early days, and Twitter is eager to pivot into these news spaces and provide ways for creeps in Spaces to make money and cultivate loyal followers. The clubhouse is just a feature of Twitter now that they have spaces. Over time it’s unlikely Clubhouse I’ll compete.”

“Yes, Twitter spaces have an upper edge over competitors such as Clubhouse.

The difference between Twitter and the rest is that it offers free and premium tools to analyze brand performance and enables applications to monitor your brand mentions due to its Application Programming Interface (API). In addition, Twitter’s advanced search allows brands to search for specific user feedback, which is a great market research tool.”

“I think Twitter Spaces has the edge over other similar platforms like Clubhouse. The primary reason, in my opinion, is that the existing user base – specifically, the influencers. I see many influencers flocking to Spaces in the past month, and the engagement I see is well and over Clubhouse. I just hope Twitter manages to reign in the bugs. That’s one place where Clubhouse does better.

“Twitter Spaces is an excellent response to the Clubhouse. But, they will work similarly. Spaces have audio-only live chat rooms, and the case is more similar to the Clubhouse. It is a live radio show where anybody can join. It may seem pretty similar to an old-fashioned conference call. Still, it possesses some significant things that make Twitter Spaces innovative. The massive part of the experience is the capability to drop in. So, it is more corresponding to an in-person and live event than a virtual meeting. The significant difference between Twitter Space and Clubhouse is that the first one is a feature like Twitter fleets and available solely on smartphones. But, the Clubhouse is an independent app. Therefore, it has significant differentiation in content availability.

“I believe that Twitter does have the edge over its competitor, Clubhouse.

Here are 2 of the reasons for my belief:

1. It relies on its already strong market. Twitter has been around longer than Clubhouse. Therefore, it already has a customer base that it can take advantage of. An example of this advantage would be their ability to do a gradual roll-out, starting on its members who have 600 followers and up. This will enable them to find issues and address them early on, making the feature better by fully rolling out. The clubhouse didn’t have this opportunity because they had to start from zero.

2. It does not promote exclusivity. Clubhouse started by being available only to iOs users. Plus, you had to be invited in order to join. Meanwhile, Twitter Spaces will be available to everyone once the beta testing is done. I believe this puts Spaces at a very great advantage, especially during this time when issues about diversity and inclusion are in the spotlight.”

“Yes, I believe Twitter spaces have an advantage over Clubhouse at the current time. Twitter has been aggressively extending Spaces and adding capabilities in the last several months to compete with specialized social audio app Clubhouse and similar features from companies like Discord and Facebook. With roughly 10-15 million individuals with a user base, the clubhouse is still a very new firm. The clubhouse has recently become available on Android, which should help it continue its popularity, although iPhone downloads have recently dropped. Furthermore, Twitter Spaces is a public conferencing function that provides more privacy. Rather than picking a clubhouse, many entrepreneurs and diplomats utilize space.

These platforms give users a place to publish minor personal updates and summaries with links to lengthy content. It’s also a popular site for sharing material and media since its retweet, quote, and response functionalities encourage user interaction. Unlike other social media, these applications allow users to create rooms to conduct their meetings or conversations. People with similar interests may debate and engage in discussion from anywhere on the globe.”

“I believe that Twitter Spaces have the upper hand over other competitors like Clubhouse because there is a larger reach. Clubhouse is new, and Twitter succeeds its users by millions. What makes Twitter Spaces different is the ability to push in tweets, DM single users from Spaces, and have an overall more straightforward, less competitive feel like Clubhouse. The authenticity, uniqueness, diversity, and laid-backness of Twitter have been integrated into Spaces, and I believe that is what makes it superior to competitors.

“Spaces are public, so anyone can join as a Listener, including people who don’t follow you. It’s built-in to Twitter, can give emoji reactions, discuss tweets in spaces, live transcriptions, and follow new people, making Twitter spaces an amazing feature along with Twitter.

The clubhouse is more networking than audio experiences; the thing which differentiates them is the limit of 5000 listeners in Clubhouse, while Twitter can add unlimited listeners. Of course, the massive network of Twitter is an add-on benefit, but the audio quality is better in Clubhouse, and it is great for podcasters.”

“There are several aspects in which Twitter Spaces is much better than Clubhouse, and I will explain each of them here.

The most significant advantage that Twitter Spaces has right off the bat is its user base. Being available on both iOS and Android means you can have many more people accessing it. Being on iOS only makes Clubhouse extremely limited as the Android user base is much bigger than iOS. The clubhouse is still months away from launching its Android app.

Anyone can join Twitter Spaces and use it for their specific needs. The open-access means anyone can create a space and use it with whoever they want. In Clubhouse, things are much more exclusive. Just because you can download the app on your iPhone does not mean you can use it. You need an invite to do so, limiting users before they even use the service.

Private connections with users are still a no-go for Clubhouse users. If someone is in the group with you and wants to talk to them directly, you cannot do that because the app does not provide a private chat function. On the other hand, Twitter makes it relatively easy as you can send anyone a DM as you would to anyone on Twitter.”

“Twitter Spaces is undoubtedly a feature that breathes fresh air in the field. When it comes to Twitter itself, it’s a way to go beyond the 280 limits and connect to the audience in a deeper way. It’s also nice to see social media platforms paying more attention to Audio. Innovation is always welcome in the social audio space, and I’m looking forward to experimenting with Twitter Spaces. All brands should experiment and stick with it if it happens to bring about positive results.

“Social media is continuing to evolve, and Twitter Spaces is an excellent addition to that. Experimenting with new features is always good for brands, and Spaces could be the winning platform for many. Clubhouse came out as a closed-door platform, and Twitter can undoubtedly make a difference by appealing to a larger audience. It’s a big announcement that I hope turns out well.
