As demonstrated by the new feature, LinkedIn will now display a gray verification tick on approved company pages within the app.

This tick indicates that the company has passed LinkedIn’s identity and authenticity checks, which cover various criteria.

“We know that authenticity is key to creating meaningful interactions. A verification badge on a LinkedIn Page helps signal to members and customers that this is an official Page for the organization, and in turn, helps the organization build trust with its audience.” — LinkedIn

However, the process might not be as straightforward as it seems.
Essentially, LinkedIn verifies pages based on the details provided in the app. The factors considered include:

  • Accuracy of certain data points on the Page (e.g., location, website URL)
  • Active Page admin presence
  • Page is claimed (not a Listing Page)
  • Compliance with LinkedIn policies

Unlike other verification processes, you cannot apply for your Company Page to be verified. LinkedIn will approve Pages at its own discretion and won’t provide further details beyond confirming the information as it deems appropriate.

It’s likely that LinkedIn might contact some businesses directly to verify their details. Given the 58 million company pages on LinkedIn, this could be a considerable manual effort for their team.

Therefore, the rollout will be gradual, and it might be some time before you see the gray badge on your own company page, as LinkedIn has many pages to review.
