Meta, Snapchat, and TikTok are partnering on a new initiative, “Thrive,” aimed at reducing exposure to suicide and self-harm-related content.
Overseen by the Mental Health Coalition, the program allows these platforms to share data on harmful content, enabling faster detection and removal across all three apps.

Meta is providing the technology infrastructure for Thrive, similar to its Lantern program, to securely share signals about violating content.

While users can discuss mental health on these platforms, strict rules are in place regarding content that promotes self-harm or suicide.

The shared data will help identify harmful material quickly without including personal information about users, allowing faster removal.

This collaboration is part of broader efforts by social networks to improve their response to harmful content.

With rising concerns about youth mental health and self-harm, Thrive aims to strengthen the platforms’ abilities to protect users and foster safer online environments.
