Many digital marketing managers and content creators prefer social media campaigns because they can carry out some really creative ideas and get high returns in the form of reach and followers.
The challenge with any social media campaign starts at the planning stage where the nuts-and-bolts of the campaign are decided and the task list lined up. The stakes get high as the brands plan social media campaigns for bringing in new users. These campaigns often have high costs and thus businesses expect high returns.
If you get the planning part right, things could still spin out of control if you do not focus on translating the tasklist into actionable activities. This is where you need to be careful in managing the resources and making sure that the campaign tasks remain on track.
To understand the process of planning social media campaigns, we invited Mili Ponce, a social media-focused entrepreneur and digital marketing strategist. She works with brands (ecommerce in particular) to help them plan and execute social media campaigns with huge ROI.
Here is Mili Ponce in the latest edition of ChampsTalk where she discusses how businesses can use social media platforms for their benefit.
Let’s go!
Thank you @MiliPonce for joining us today🙏
Let start with the first question: Why is it necessary to create a social media plan for any business? #ChampsTalk pic.twitter.com/J2ccMlkStF
— Social Champ (@SocialChampSays) August 4, 2021
You need to test the best strategies for your audience, therefore you need to track the different strategies and learn which ones work best in each social network you use.
It makes it easier to automate
It is easier to manage the people involved in it— Mili Ponce (@MiliPonce) August 4, 2021
Thank you for having me here. You need a social media plan, because: You can waste a lot of time on social media and have no results
— Mili Ponce (@MiliPonce) August 4, 2021
You can review the plan and results at the end of each month
— Mili Ponce (@MiliPonce) August 4, 2021
Q2. What are the top key points that one should focus on before and while creating a social media plan? #ChampsTalk pic.twitter.com/HZnDW2MN0L
— Social Champ (@SocialChampSays) August 4, 2021
1. What networks are the right ones for my business and my audience
2. How much time realistically my team or I have to dedicate to social media— Mili Ponce (@MiliPonce) August 4, 2021
4How much budget do I have for social media? If you expect to get results for free, it is not going to happen realistically. Even if you don’t pay for ads, you will still need to pay for tools, apps to create graphics, and other things involved.
— Mili Ponce (@MiliPonce) August 4, 2021
Q3. What are the benefits of a social media plan for any business? #ChampsTalk pic.twitter.com/RczUboGhyC
— Social Champ (@SocialChampSays) August 4, 2021
Make their social media budget more effective and bring more ROI
Increase branding and results for less money and in less time.#ChampsTalk— Mili Ponce (@MiliPonce) August 4, 2021
Q4. How to choose the right social media platform for any business? #ChampsTalk pic.twitter.com/JedDtHSS4f
— Social Champ (@SocialChampSays) August 4, 2021
Have statistics of the demographics of each social network and choose the one that matches your target market.
Learn the purpose of each social network, what they are best at and match it with your goals. #ChampsTalk— Mili Ponce (@MiliPonce) August 4, 2021
Keep in mind, where is your target market, is it local, in a specific country or worldwide, it will make a huge difference when choosing social networks because they have different presence in each country and they are used differently in different parts of the world #ChampsTalk
— Mili Ponce (@MiliPonce) August 4, 2021
Q5. Do you think creating a different social media strategy for each social platform is beneficial? #ChampsTalk pic.twitter.com/eBmTNU7Vku
— Social Champ (@SocialChampSays) August 4, 2021
Yes, because the audience of each is different and what you need to do to get results in each network is completely different. You can’t do the same on Facebook and on Twitter, that won’t work. #ChampsTalk
— Mili Ponce (@MiliPonce) August 4, 2021
Q6. Do you think automation is vital for any social media plan? #ChampsTalk pic.twitter.com/IXfdsbZP2K
— Social Champ (@SocialChampSays) August 4, 2021
I think it is very important because social media is very time-consuming so you want to automate as much as it is possible, 50% should be automated and 50% manual, because you need to build community and interact with your audience, that will bring the right results #ChampsTalk
— Mili Ponce (@MiliPonce) August 4, 2021
You don't want to spend hours a day doing social media instead of spending that time creating great content scheduling it and interacting. Potentially you can work three times less on social media than you do now and bring 3 times more results, just by automating. #ChampsTalk
— Mili Ponce (@MiliPonce) August 4, 2021
Q7. Lastly, who do you think we should invite next for our chat session? #ChampsTalk pic.twitter.com/hVwUUd7McR
— Social Champ (@SocialChampSays) August 4, 2021
You should invite Kat Ford her Twitter was suspended I am sure by mistake as it happens but her LinkedIn is https://t.co/8rIERSFItH, I am sure she has now another Twitter account. #ChampsTalk, I will ask her and come back to you for her Twitter account.
— Mili Ponce (@MiliPonce) August 4, 2021
Thank you @MiliPonce for the recommendation❤️ We are sure it happened by mistake and we will also try to connect with her 😇
— Social Champ (@SocialChampSays) August 4, 2021
What KPIs are essential for keeping track of social media campaign performance? #ChampsTalk@MiliPonce @SocialChampSays
— Tahniat Alam (@tahniatalam) August 4, 2021
Hello Tahniat, you need to keep track of the number of visits to your website, conversion into leads and conversion into clients or the final goal you have.#ChampsTalk
— Mili Ponce (@MiliPonce) August 4, 2021
Many people worry about their amount of followers or interaction on social media, this will not necessarily make any difference in your campaign unless you are trying to become an influencer. #ChampsTalk @tahniatalam
— Mili Ponce (@MiliPonce) August 4, 2021
Ahan. As it always seems to be like a race for followers. I think as long as the camping is fulfilling its purpose, it good to go 🙂
— Tahniat Alam (@tahniatalam) August 4, 2021
How often should a brand post on social media? Does consistency play any part in growing social media following? #ChampsTalk @MiliPonce @SocialChampSays
— Marium Fahim Khan (@marium_fahim) August 4, 2021
Consistency is important, but posting at the same hour or date does not make much difference, make sure you test when is the best time and date to post, don't forget building a database is even more important, try to make them download something or a trial or discount #ChampsTalk
— Mili Ponce (@MiliPonce) August 4, 2021
How does social media help in establishing a community for a brand? @MiliPonce @SocialChampSays #ChampsTalk
— Fahad Ahmed (@Fahad_Ahmed94) August 4, 2021
I hope this answered your question? Social media creates credibility and people like to have someone to come to for specific topics, so building the credibility and the interaction with the company and the audience will build that community and advocates. #ChampsTalk
— Mili Ponce (@MiliPonce) August 4, 2021
Yes @MiliPonce thank you so much.
— Fahad Ahmed (@Fahad_Ahmed94) August 4, 2021
Q. How can a brand identify where its target audience is located? And once the right platform(s) has been identified, what’s the next step? #ChampsTalk@MiliPonce @SocialChampSays
— Tahniat Alam (@tahniatalam) August 4, 2021
I hope that answered your question? #ChampsTalk
— Mili Ponce (@MiliPonce) August 4, 2021
It did. Lastly, I just wanted to know, if I identify all of the above parameters and yet my reach to the right location of my audience is minimal. What can be done in this case?
— Tahniat Alam (@tahniatalam) August 4, 2021
What different objectives apart from creating brand awareness can a brand achieve through social media? @MiliPonce @SocialChampSays #ChampsTalk
— Syed Hamza (@kepler31b) August 4, 2021
Hello Syed, you can achieve an increase in credibility, advocates instead of followers only and the potential to build a database for email marketing which can in many cases double the number of clients per month. #ChampsTalk
— Mili Ponce (@MiliPonce) August 4, 2021
Should businesses use customer personas to create their social media plan? #ChampsTalk @MiliPonce @SocialChampSays
— Marium Fahim Khan (@marium_fahim) August 4, 2021
If the differences in age are too much as teens and adults, then yes, if the age is not too different then no need for it, or if you have B2B and B2C then you should do it for sure. #ChampsTalk
— Mili Ponce (@MiliPonce) August 4, 2021
That's it for today, everyone! We would like to thank @MiliPonce for her knowledgeable answers 🙏
