Instant messaging (IM) is a type of online communication that offers real-time text transmission over the Internet. It’s a popular way to stay in touch with friends and family, and many people also use it for business purposes.  These short messages are typically transmitted between two parties when each user chooses to complete a thought and select “send.” Instant messages enable users to connect with others in various ways, including one-to-one chats, group chats, and even video chats. It is usually faster and more convenient than email.

Many instant messaging apps are available, such as WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and WeChat. Each app has its own unique features, allowing users to send and receive messages instantly. The conversation occurs in real time, meaning that both parties see each other’s messages as they finish typing.
