Say Less

[say-les]

‘Say less’ is a casual phrase used to show agreement or understanding in conversation quickly. It means that the listener gets what was said without needing more explanation. It can also hint that the speaker should keep their message short and simple. It’s like saying, “Got it!” or “No need to explain further!” It helps keep conversations easy and straightforward.

Similarly, if someone is explaining plans for the weekend and you grasp the gist, responding with ‘say less’ signals that further elaboration isn’t necessary.

Example

Friend 1: “Hey, wanna catch a movie tonight?”
Friend 2: “Say less, I am down!”

In this example, “say less” is used by Friend 2 to agree with the suggestion of watching a movie without further discussion.
