Smart Goals
[Sma.art Go.ulz]
“S.M.A.R.T goals” is an acronym for:
S- specific (Keeping tasks or goals as precise as possible)
M- measurable (quantifiable measurements that will help in tracking progress)
A- achievable (Not setting impossible targets. Goals should have an outcome)
R- relevant (not adding in unnecessary aims, only relatable to your mission)
T- time-bound (setting time limits for each target to meet deadlines on time)
It could either be your own personal targets or professional targets that you set to achieve in a specific period of time. The reason why it’s called “SMART Goals” is because you want to ensure that anything you’re planning on achieving is very particular and to the point.
This strategy helps in reducing the extra time and effort that you might end up putting in. The smarter the goals, the more chances you have to achieve them successfully.
Example
The social media team has decided to use a SMART goals strategy for this quarter. They aim to reach 5k followers on Instagram and Facebook in the first quarter of 2024. The social media and ad campaigns will target the audience aged between 18 and 35 and run from the first week of January 2024 to the last week of March 2024.
