Trigger Warning

[tri·guh waw·nuhng]

It is usually added in contents that contain sexual abuse, violence, self-harm, eating disorders, and other explicit content. It can be in the form of visuals or text, but a trigger warning is considered essential before sharing something sensitive like this.

This warning aims to warn people who might be sensitive to such things so they don’t get traumatized. The owner is responsible for adding a trigger warning to prevent harm if the content contains any such detail.

Example

For example, when you watch a Netflix show that contains self-harm or drug use, you will see they always advise viewers discretion. The most popular example is the show “13 Reasons Why.”
